• ACAS - yahoo American Capital Strategies is the nations largest business development company with a portfolio of more than 150 companies. It pays a taxable dividend 8.3% and increases the dividend every quarter. Next ex-div date is about December 1, 2006. Oct 1, 2006 formed American Capital Equity 1 with $1 Billion in captial
• ACI - yahoo site Arch Coal is the second largest coal producer in the US. The average selling price for coal is rising, but utilities have increased inventory from 30 to 46 days.
• ADM - yahoo Archer Daniels Midland is one of the world’s largest agricultural processors of soybeans, corn, wheat and cocoa. They work with farmers across the world to turn these crops into soymeal and oil, corn sweeteners, flour, cocoa and chocolate, ethanol and biodiesel, as well as a wide portfolio of other value-added food ingredients, animal nutrition and industrial.
• ATW - yahoo site Atwood Oceanics engages in the international offshore drilling and completion of exploratory and developmental oil and gas wells and related support, management and consulting services. They own and operate a premium, modern fleet of eight mobilte offshore drilling units. • BPHX - yahoo site BluePhoenix Solutions Ltd leading provider of turn-key migration solutions for legacy software, reported triple digit earnings growth. Analysts expect EPS to grown 30% from .30 this year to .42 in 2007. Target price of 8.50 from $5.40 August 26, 2006
• BYD - yahoo Boyd Gaming owns 20 gaming properties. Earnings estimates conversative. Buy under $40
• CVD - yahoo Covance provides comprehensive drug development servicess to pharamaceutical and biotechnology.
• ESLR -Evergreen Solar is the developer and manufactures of photovoltaic(PV) modules. Expected to 36 cents in 2006 and only 9 cents in 2007. Trades around 10 - 12 - risky but timely
• HD - yahoo Home Depot. Beaten Down because of decline in home building, but lower oil prices gives consumers money to spend on their homes. Crossed the 50 day moving average going up on 9/12/2006.
• INSU - yahoo Insituform Technologies provides propriety trenchless technologies to rehabiliate, replace, maintain and install underground pipes. The worldwide infrastructure needs repair and Insituform provides a cost effective solution. As of August 30, 2006, the price recently crossed and is above the 50 day moving average.
• ICE - yahoo site InterContinental Exchange, Inc. is the world’s leading electronic marketplace for energy trading and price discovery. ICE’s transparent and efficient market structure, coupled with its secure, electronic trading platform, allows ICE to provide market participants with direct access to energy futures and thousands of OTC commodity products for oil and refined products, natural gas, power and emissions. The surge in commodity trading is increasing earning.
• IGT -yahoo International Game Technology is the largest seller of slot machines to casinos.
• ITG - yahoo site Investment Technology Group] provides trading systems to institutional investors.
• FIX - yahoo site Confort Systems USA provide commerical air conditioning and service.
• CVS - yahoo CVS fills more than one of every seven retail prescriptions in America markets, in its over 6,200 stores
• DRIV - yahoo Digital River delivers online stores that sell. It hosts and managers more than 40,000 stores. Deal with large customer (Microsoft?) could dramatically boost Digital River salse and profits in 2007.
• FRK - yahoo site Florida Rocks operates in three construction material segments: Construction Aggregates, Concrete Products, and Cement and Calcium Products. Housing and commerical and government construction projected to grow constantly as more people retire and move to Florida.
• GE - yahoo site General Electric which has declined for past 18 months while increasing earnings and dividends, but now as interest rates stablize looks to move up. GE pays a $1 annual dividend which yields 3% at $33.71. Analysts project EPS for 1.98 in 2006 and $2.26 in 2007. I expect GE to raise the dividend to $1.08 in December 2006.
• GRP - yahoo site Grant Pride Co supplies pipe and services to the oil and gas drillers. Great Earnings outlook with EPS growing from $1.72 in 2005 to an estimated $3.20 and $3.92 in 2007. Yet sellers have depressed the price because stock market fears oil prices will fall causing drillers to cut back and reduced the demand for pipe. I think $41 represents a buying opportunity
• LMS - yahoo Lamson & Sessions manufactures thermoplastic electrical, consumer. telecommuntions and engineered sewer productions. Earnings per share has grown by greater than 15% for last 10 qtrs, but PE only 10.
• LAYN - yahoo site Layne Christensen Company provides sophisticated services and related products in four principal markets: waterresources, mineral exploration, geoconstruction services and energy services and production. EPS grew by 34% in 2nd qtr 2006. Outlook for 2007 is more of the same.
• JCOM - yahoo site Leader in faxing services
• PRFT - yahoo Perficient is a rapidly growing software developer and VAR for IBM, ORACLE and Microsoft. Analysts project earnings to grow 30% a year.
• PSSI - yahoo World Medical distributes medical products, equipment, and pharmaceutical related products to Physician Offices and Elder Care Facilites. EPS projected to accelerate - 10% in 2006, 16% in 2007 and 21% in 2008.
• RTSX - yahoo Radiation Therapy serves cancer patients in 80 centers in 23 states. The popularity of health care stocks and 30% CAGR drives the stock price higher.
• SWY - yahoo site Safeway with its 1770 grocery store recently grew margins by upgrading stores for better customer experience and forcing on more profitable and healthier organic and natural foods. Operating margins have jumped to 4.1% in Q2 from 3.4% a year ago.
• SZE - yahoo Suez An Internation company specializing in Energy and Water. P
• PFCB - yahoo site P.F. Changs is open restaurant in Princeton
• PHLY - yahoo site Philadelphia Consolidated Holdings designs, markets and underwrites speciality and commerical and casualty insurance to select industries and groups. Its strong earning growth may slow down in 2007, then again it may not.
• PVTB - yahoo site. PrivateBanCorp provides private banking nd wealth management services to affluent individuals. Featured in IDB New America on Wednesay, August 18, 2006. Earnings to grow 20% a year.
